American Express Co. has extended its partnership with AAA by signing a five-year travelers check agreement.

The 40 million-member AAA, formerly known as American Automobile Association, is the leading American Express travelers checks sales outlet, distributing more than $2 billion last year.

Since they started comarketing in 1983, "the American Express Travelers Cheque has become a symbol of safety and security for AAA members," said Mark Brown, executive vice president of AAA Association and Club Services.

Henry Autry, senior vice president and general manager of American Express Travelers Cheque Group, said the companies "plan to introduce new and innovative product enhancements to make travelers checks an even more valuable element of AAA membership."
