Chain Bridge in Virginia Hires Wells Fargo Exec to Run Its Bank

Chain Bridge Bancorp in McLean, Va., has hired a former Wells Fargo (WFC) banker as its bank's president.

The company said Thursday that Sam Schreiber had become president of its $306 million-asset Chain Bridge Bank after. He retired from Wells Fargo at the end of last year. For 2009 to 2013, he led the San Francisco company's business banking team in Virginia, Maryland and Washington.

In his new role, Schreiber will oversee all commercial and consumer business and development, along with the bank's loan, deposit and mortgage divisions.

Schreiber "is one of the best-known and most highly regarded bankers in the greater Washington, D.C., area, and he brings a wealth of talent and experience that will benefit our clients," Chain Bridge Chairman Peter Fitzgerald said in a press release.

Schreiber will also join the board at Chain Bridge Bancorp and the bank. John Brough will remain chief executive of the holding company and bank.

Schreiber was an executive at Wachovia before it was sold in 2008 to Well Fargo.
