Chase Paymentech has gone down market to small- and medium-sized businesses with a new web site that provides an automated channel for credit card processing and merchant account setup.
The new site (http://merchantaccount.chasepaymentech.com/) allows business to research the line of Paymentech’s payment products and services, including hardware terminals and interchange fee rates, all covering payment tools for Internet, point-of-sale, telephone or mail-order transactions. The site also provides custom credit-card and gift-card processing systems designed for restaurant and food service industries.
The acquiring industry has been slow to adopt automated online services for their merchant acceptance clients. A 2007 survey by Aite Group found only 45 percent offer Web-based applications for new account opening, and only 27 percent permit clients to manage chargeback resolution cases online.
