Citigroup Names New Overseas Chiefs

Citigroup Inc. has shuffled some of its overseas management to appoint new regional chiefs in Asia Pacific and Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Shengman Zhang, who had been vice chairman of global banking and president of Asia-Pacific, becomes regional chairman. Stephen Bird, head of consumer banking and global cards for Asia-Pacific, was named co-chief executive for the region, along with Shirish Apte, who had guided Citi's expansion in Central and Eastern Europe.

The CEO post for Europe, the Middle East and Africa also will be shared, by Bill Mills, who has worked in the region since moving over from the company's Salomon Smith Barney division, and by Alberto Verme, who had been based in Dubai as Citi's co-head of global investment banking.
