HOUSTON - Comerica Bank today opened anew banking center at City West and Briar Forest, the third new office inthe west side of Houston in the past five weeks.
The Detroit-based bank late last year opened two other banking centersin west Harris County, one at I-10 and Brogden and another at Olive Hilland Eldridge Parkway, continuing its growth in the Houston area. With thislatest location, Comerica Bank now has 25 banking centers in the Houstonarea.
"This new City West location, coupled with our West Loop hub and thenew banking centers at I-10 and Eldgridge Parkway, provide us withexcellent coverage of the west side of Houston," said Gary Orr, Houstonmarket president for Comerica Bank. "Our presence in this area is importantto our overall growth strategy."

Orr said the bank plans to accelerate the pace of its banking centerexpansion in South Texas in 2007, opening as many as eight new locations inHarris, Fort Bend and Montgomery Counties by December 2007. He said thisaggressive growth strategy will continue through 2010, when it is expectedthat Texas will have grown to 20 percent of Comerica's national bankingcenter total.
The new banking centers feature Saturday morning banking hours, an ATM(automated teller machine) and night depositories.
The Texas Market of Comerica Bank includes 69 banking centers in thekey Texas markets of Dallas, Houston and Austin. In the third quarter of2006, Comerica's Texas Market generated 11 percent of the net income forComerica Incorporated, on approximately $6.5 billion in assetsat Sept. 30, 2006.
