Comerica renames Hibernia's Tex. branches.

DETROIT -- Comerica Inc. said Tuesday that Hibernia National Bank in Texas has merged with Comerica Bank-Texas. The Hibernia branches in Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio now operate under the Comerica name.

Michigan-based Comerica agreed to buy Hibernia's $800 million of Texas assets for approximately $56 million in cash in July 1992, and completed the acquisition at yearend. It now operates 51 branches, in Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio and will add two more branches when its merger with Sugar Creek National Bank in Sugar Land and with North Park National Bank are completed later this year.

Comerica last week said it paid about $79 million in stock to buy North Park National Corp. in Dallas.
