Corrections

The Monday article "In L.A., Fewer Bank Bucks Are in Evidence" on page 1 overstated the number of books donated at the Republican National Convention to a literacy program sponsored by Sallie Mae. The correct figure is 1,500.

Tuesday's page 1 article "Regulatory Wave Moves to Insurance" misstated the meeting at which Office of Thrift Supervision Director Ellen Seidman made the quoted remarks. It was at Monday's FDIC board meeting.

A page 20 article Wednesday, "Goldman, Lehman, Morgan Lifted by Merrill Analyst," gave the wrong time frame in one paragraph. Judah S. Kraushaar's earnings estimates for next year, not the third quarter, are 3% to 7% below consensus; it was next year's revenues that he wrote could create "earnings disappointment."
