Dallas Restaurant Chain Installs Vending Machine Payment Card Readers

The Dallas restaurant chain Dave and Buster's Inc. has installed vending machines equipped with payment card readers using technology developed by USA Technologies Inc.

USA Technologies, of Malvern, Pa., announced Wednesday that the chain had deployed 48 of the machines equipped with its e-Port payment systems.

USA Technologies says its e-Port payment system enables companies to install vending machines in unattended retail locations. The machines are connected to the company's proprietary USALive Network, which enables operators to keep track of when the machines need to be restocked. It uses the same technology to network other types of machines, including copiers and Laundromat washers and dryers.

Wendy Jenkins, USA Technologies' vice president of marketing, said that Dave and Buster's also operates arcade games and that her company is considering installing e-Port system on such games. "As games machines grow more complicated, the cost of playing the game increases, and we anticipate operators will offer their customers the option of paying with credit or debit cards," she said in a press release.
