Dm-drogerie markt GmbH + Co. KG, one of Germany's top two drugstore chains, is deploying more than 3,700 Hypercom Corp. payment terminals at its nearly 1,200 retail outlets nationwide, Hypercom announced Tuesday.
"By integrating the Artema Hybrid payment systems into our stores, we will speed transactions and further enhance the shopping experience for our customers," Roman Melcher, Dm-drogerie markt managing director, said in a press release.
Merchants use some 300,000 Artema Hybrid payment systems in Germany. The product features a single slot "hybrid" card reader and secure integrated PIN pad to accept both magnetic stripe and chip card transactions, Hypercom, of Phoenix, said in the release.
The terminal was the first to be certified according to the TA 7.0 chip card specifications the Zentraler Kreditausschuss German banking association recently introduced, according to Hypercom.
