Eastern Virginia Consolidates Branches

Eastern Virginia Bankshares of Tappahannock said Friday that it is consolidating two branches in King William County.

The company, whose banking subsidiary is EVB, said it would close a branch in Aylett on Dec. 3 and consolidate it into its "modern, state-of-the-art" Central Garage branch on Dec. 6.

"Due to the age of the Aylett branch and its physical limitations, it has become increasingly difficult to maintain the office to the standard to which our customers expect and deserve," the company said.

Eastern Virginia also said the consolidation would generate cost savings for the $1.1 billion-asset company.

Eastern Virginia, with roots dating to 1910, has 25 branches in the state, according to its website.
