The Chicago wealth adviser Envestnet Asset Management has started an alliance with H&R Block Financial Advisors that will allow Block's advisers to provide investment services to clients.

Envestnet, which announced the alliance Monday, offers a Web-based platform of investment programs includings unified managed accounts, mutual funds, alternative investments, and fixed-income.
H&R Block Financial Advisors, a unit of H&R Block Inc. of Kansas City, Mo., provides traditional brokerage services as well as annuities, insurance, investment advisory accounts, online account access, and equity research. Envestnet had more than $45 billion of assets under management and administration as of Sept. 30.
