First Financial Bancorp of Hamilton, Ohio, has named David S. Harvey its market president for northwestern Indiana.

Mr. Harvey had been the $3.5 billion-asset company's chief credit officer and an executive vice president.

Before that, from 2001 to 2005, he had been the president of its Sand Ridge Bank, now a division of the company's First Financial Bank. (The company consolidated its five charters into one last year.)

Earlier he had been the chief lending officer for Sand Ridge.

Before joining First Financial in 1997 he had worked for 14 years at Bank One.

First Financial Bancorp also said that Richard Barbercheck would succeed Mr. Harvey as its chief credit officer July 1. He joined the company last year as its chief risk officer.


SOUTHEASTBankUnited Financial Corp. of Coral Gables, Fla., has hired Hunting F. Deutsche as its executive vice president of wealth management, a newly created job.

Mr. Deutsche was an executive vice president of trust and private client services at AmSouth Bank of Birmingham, Ala. Before that he had been the managing director for Citigroup Inc.'s private bank in Miami.

Earlier, he had worked for 20 years at SunTrust Bank, rising to president and chief executive officer of its client and retirement services divisions.

He has 30 years of senior-level banking experience.

BankUnited has $12.2 billion of assets.


WESTService 1st Bank of Tracy, Calif., has made Patrick Carman its chief operating officer.

Mr. Carman, who is an executive vice president, had been the chief credit officer of the $177 million-asset unit of Service 1st Bancorp. He joined the bank in 2000.

Before that he had been the senior credit officer and a senior vice president of East County Bank of Antioch (now a part of City National Bank).


Greater Bay Bancorp, which owns the $6.7 billion-asset Greater Bay Bank of East Palo Alto, Calif., has hired Allen J. Gula Jr. as its chief information officer and an executive vice president.

Mr. Gula had been a co-president and the chief information officer of Franklin Resources Inc., a San Mateo investment management company, from 1999 to 2002. He remained with the firm as an adviser after that.

Earlier he had been an executive vice president at KeyCorp and the chairman and chief executive officer of its Key Services Corp. He came to KeyCorp in 1994 when it bought Society Corp. Before that he had been chief information officer at Society Bank.


SVB Financial Group of Santa Clara, Calif., has hired Mary Dent as its general counsel and secretary.

Ms. Dent was in charge of securities, governance, and legal matters at New Skies Satellites BV, a telecommunications company in The Hague.

Before that she had been a legal counselor at Goldberg, Godles, Wiener & Wright, a Washington law firm.

She has 15 years of legal experience in the public and private sectors.


Business Bank of Nevada in Las Vegas has hired Paul Workman as an executive vice president and the director of sales for its relationship managers in southern Nevada.

Mr. Workman was an asset development officer and a senior vice president at BankWest of Nevada, a $2 billion-asset unit of Western Alliance Bancorp., where he had worked for 10 years.

Before that he had worked for seven years at Nevada State Bank as a branch manager and a commercial loan officer. Earlier he had been a branch manager at Valley Bank of Las Vegas.

Business Bank of Nevada is a $439 million-asset unit of Business Bank Corp.


First Mutual Bank of Bellevue, Wash., has hired George Brace as a senior development officer and a senior vice president.

Mr. Brace was the Washington state community banking president for Wells Fargo Bank. He joined Wells in 2003, when it bought Pacific Northwest Bank.

Before that he had been an executive vice president at Pacific Northwest and had held various positions there, including banking group manager, commercial banking manager, and Puget Sound manager.
