Mercantile Bancorp Inc. of Quincy, Ill., has hired Sheri Boyle as senior vice president and director of human resources.

Boyle was the global compensation manager for Gardner Denver Inc. in Quincy. Before that she worked in human resources and compensation for Bunge Ltd.'s North American arm in St. Louis.

Mercantile has $1.7 billion of assets.

 


 First Chicago Bancorp of Itasca, Ill., has hired John Brinkman as executive vice president and chief credit officer of its First Chicago Bank and Trust.

Brinkman was a senior lender at New Century Bank. Before that he was a senior credit officer at American National Bank and earlier held a similar position at Bank One.

First Chicago has $1.3 billion of assets.

 


 PrivateBancorp Inc. of Chicago has hired Robert Holmes as a managing director and the head of regional banking for the West.

Holmes was president and chief executive officer of First Bank in St. Louis, which he joined in 2007. Before that he was the group senior vice president of regional commercial banking for LaSalle Bank, where he had worked since 1996. He began his banking career with Boatmen's Bank in 1985.

At the $10 billion-asset PrivateBancorp, Holmes will be based in St. Louis and will oversee that area in addition to Kansas City, Mo., and Des Moines.


MIDDLE ATLANTICSignature Bank of New York has hired Matthew R. Weltman as a group director and senior vice president, Lorriane Quinlan and Scott A. Fenton as associate group directors and Mayra Rios as a senior client associate in its Upper East Side branch.

The four executives joined the $7.1 billion-asset Signature from Capital One Financial Corp.

Weltman was a senior vice president and team leader in Capital One's private banking business. He joined Capital One when it bought his previous employer, North Fork Bank, where he was a senior vice president and district manager. Earlier he was the vice president of business development and a branch manager.

Quinlan will also be a vice president at Signature. She was a vice president and branch manager at Capital One, where she assisted with real estate management services. Before that she was a team manager for New York in the corporate products division. Earlier she was an assistant vice president and cash management consultant.

Fenton was a vice president of Capital One's private banking group. Before that he was a vice president and branch manager in Manhattan.

Rios was a private banking operations manager in Manhattan for Capital One. She began her banking career with Bank of New York Co. in 1993.

 


 Investors Savings Bank of Short Hills, N.J., has hired Omari S. Frazier as the manager of its branch in Roxbury.

Frazier was a branch manager for PNC Bank. Before that he was a lease administrator and sales coordinator for CIT Group. Earlier he was a financial specialist for Wachovia Corp.

Investors Savings Bank has $7.1 billion of assets.


NEW ENGLANDDanvers Bancorp Inc. in Massachusetts has promoted L. Mark Panella to executive vice president of its Danversbank.

Panella will remain the chief financial officer. He had been the senior vice president and CFO since joining the $1.7 billion-asset Danvers in 1995. Before that he had worked for Boston Private Bank and Trust Co. since 1990.

 


 NewAlliance Bank of New Haven has hired C. Gene Kirby as its president.

Kirby was a corporate executive vice president at SunTrust Banks Inc. in Atlanta. Before that he oversaw SunTrust's e-business strategy. He had worked for SunTrust since 1985.

NewAlliance has $8.2 billion of assets.


SOUTHEASTECB Bancorp Inc. of Engelhard, N.C., has hired Dwight Utz as president and chief executive officer of the company and its East Carolina Bank.

Utz will begin his job on July 1. He has been an executive vice president and the chief retail officer for MidSouth Bank in Lafayette, La. He joined the bank in 2001 as a senior vice president and retail banking executive.

ECB has $862 million of assets.
