FDIC closing another liquidation office.

WASHINGTON - The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. is closing its liquidation office in Boosier City, La.

This is the third liquidation field office targeted for closing in recent months. The agency said April 30 that it is closing its Oklahoma City liquidation office and on June 2 announced an end to its Anchorage, Alaska, liquidation operation. Both of those offices are expected to wrap up work by the end of October.

The Boosier City office, which has sold 30,000 assets with a book value of $5.2 billion, is expected to close by Nov. 13, the FDIC said. Of the office's 435 workers, only 32 are permanent employees - and they will be offered jobs in the agency's remaining 15 liquidation offices.
