Federated Investors Inc., a Pittsburgh investment manager, launched a quantitative equity fund.
The Federated MDT Large Cap Value Fund seeks to provide long-term capital appreciation by investing in large U.S. companies.
The fund, introduced last week, uses the Russell 1,000 Value Index as its primary benchmark and is subadvised by MDT Advisers, a Boston asset manager that Federated bought in 2006.
Federated will market the fund in A, C, institutional, and K share classes through broker-dealers, including bank-owned ones, and other financial intermediaries.
Federated had $301.6 billion in assets under management at yearend. It manages 148 mutual funds.
