Fidelity Hires Institutional Executive

Fidelity Investments has hired Charles G. Goldman, an executive vice president and head of Schwab Institutional, to be its president of institutional platforms in the Fidelity institutional products group.

Mr. Goldman is to join the Boston company early next year and report to Michael K. Clark, the group's president, Fidelity said last week.

In this newly created post, Mr. Goldman is to develop and execute a strategic plan for the institutional platform business, which includes Fidelity institutional wealth services; National Financial, Fidelity's clearing business; and Fidelity family-office services.

Before being hired by Schwab in 2001, he was the president and chief operating officer of Paramount Farms Inc. and the Paramount Citrus Association.

Fidelity had $3 trillion of assets under custody, including $1.4 trillion under management at Sept. 30.
