First Bank in Hampton, Ark., has changed its name to Generations Bank.

The $384 million-asset bank, with nine locations in Arkansas, said the name change will help it create a "unique identity" in the region and better position it for expansion.

"In Northwest Arkansas there are a lot of banks with similar names," Chairman Jon Harrell said in a news release about the rebranding, which includes a new logo and signage. "We wanted a name that would stand out and at the same time it was important to us to not lose sight of our roots."

The bank was founded in 1907 as Calhoun County Bank, a name it retained until 2010, when it was changed to First Bank. The new name reflects the fact that the bank is currently serving its fifth and sixth generations of customers, Harrell said.

Generations Bank is the subsidiary of Harrell Bancshares in Camden, Ark.
