Frederick A. Deal was chosen to become president and chief executive of First Eastern Corp., Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in September.
Mr. Deal will also hold those positions at First Eastern's principal unit, First Eastern Bank.
He will succeed Richard M. Ross Jr. in the posts and be a director of both companies.
Mr. Ross, who announced retirement plans in April after 26 years with First Eastern, is also chairman of the bank and the holding company.
The board said it expects to elect a new chairman to replace him at its September meeting. Mr. Ross will remain a board member.
Mr. Deal was most recently chairman, president, and chief executive of Society Bank and Trust in Toledo, Ohio.
