Northern Trust Corp. of Chicago hired two executives for its Northern Trust Canada unit in Toronto: John Folk as senior vice president of client service and operations and Valerie Hull as vice president of finance.
Both will report to Robert Baillie, Northern Trust's president and chief executive of Canadian operations.
Mr. Folk will lead relationship management, client service, and benefit payments for institutional clients in Canada and oversee securities lending and trade settlements.
Before joining Northern Trust, Mr. Folk was a senior vice president of institutional investor services and co-head of investor services operations for State Street Corp.'s Canadian pension, investment management, and corporate client services arm, State Street Canada.
Ms. Hull has more than 10 years' experience in the financial services industry, most recently with Goodman & Co. Investment Counsel Ltd.
Northern Trust, which announced the hirings Thursday, has 85 U.S. offices and 13 international offices. At the end of 2007 it had $4.1 trillion of assets under custody and $757.2 billion under management.
