Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. hired Stephan Schinnenburg as general manager of its German office in Frankfurt.
The Simsbury, Conn., company plans to begin selling variable annuities in Germany early next year. It said the expansion into Germany is a key to its international growth strategy. Mr. Schinnenburg reports to Marc Lieberman, the president and chief executive of Hartford Life Ltd., the company's European insurer.
Mr. Schinnenburg was head of sales and marketing for Ideal Lebensversicherung, a Berlin firm focusing on insurance products for people older than 50. His hiring was announced Tuesday.
