Hartford Picks Chief Risk Officer

Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. announced that it has promoted Robert Paiano to senior vice president and enterprise chief risk officer.

Mr. Paiano is to report to Lizabeth Zlatkus, a corporate executive vice president and the chief financial officer, the company said last week.

As enterprise chief risk officer, he is responsible for risk management strategy and execution across the company, including its life, property and casualty, and investment operations.

He has worked for the Hartford, Conn., company since 1996, when he was hired as a senior vice president of corporate finance. He has worked in the capital management, corporate banking, treasury operations, and investment management businesses. Most recently he was chief risk officer in the property/casualty operation, overseeing catastrophe risk management and reinsurance.

Before joining Hartford, Mr. Paiano worked at American Express Co., the former Citicorp Inc., First Interstate Bancorp, and ITT Residential Capital Corp.
