Heritage Commerce in California brings back former CEO

Heritage Commerce in San Jose, Calif., has a familiar face back at the helm.

The $4.6 billion-asset company said in a press release Monday that Walter Kaczmarek has been named interim president and CEO. Kaczmarek held those posts from 2005 to 2019.

Kaczmarek succeeded Keith Wilton, who recently retired. Wilton was 62 when the company filed its last proxy statement in April 2020. Kaczmarek, a member of the company’s board, was 68 when the statement was filed.

Heritage Commerce did not provide any details on its plans to find a permanent CEO.

“The board thanks Keith Wilton for his years of valuable service and we wish him the best as he enters retirement,” Jack Conner, Heritage Commerce’s chairman, said in the release.

Prior to joining Heritage Commerce, Kaczmarek was an executive vice president at Comerica Bank and Plaza Bank of Commerce.
