Citigroup tapped former General Electric exec George Awad, who was part of a unit called GE Money, to run its consumer operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Awad will be based in London and will report to Ajay Banga, chairman and CEO of Citigroup's international global consumer group.

Barclays appointed Paul Fabara as its global chief operating officer. The position is an executive committee one reporting to Barclaycard chief executive Antony Jenkins.

Nationwide Bank hired Anne Arvia, former president of Chicago's ShoreBank, as its president, succeeding the retiring John Skubik.

Ellen Costello was named CEO of Harris Bankcorp, succeeding Frank Techar, who is now BMO Financial Group's president and CEO for Personal and Commercial Banking Canada.
