HSBC Hires Private Bank Exec

HSBC Private Bank had hired John Babcock as a managing director for the bank and its regional manager for the Northeast and the Middle Atlantic.

In his newly created position, he will be based in New York and will report to Patrick Campion, the chief executive officer of the HSBC Holdings PLC division's U.S. private bank.

Mr. Babcock will manage teams of bankers who work with wealthy individuals, family offices, privately owned businesses, and financial sponsors in the Northeast and the Middle Atlantic.

He was a managing director and market executive for the New York region for U.S. Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management.

Before that he had been a managing director at Bank of New York Mellon Corp.

HSBC Private Bank, which announced the hiring Wednesday, has offices in Beverly Hills, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, Morristown, N.J., New York, San Francisco, and Wilmington, Del.
