Argentine police are investigating three bomb explosions at branches of Citigroup Inc. and Grupo Financiero Galicia SA in Buenos Aires that killed one person.
At one of two Citigroup branches, a bomb exploded after a security guard attempted to move it, a federal police spokesman said. The security guard died after being taken to a hospital. The explosion at the other Citi branch injured a police officer.
"We are confident that the police are handling this in the appropriate manner and we are working very closely with them," said Lula Rodriguez, a Citigroup spokeswoman in Miami.
Banks in Argentina had already been bombed twice this year. In the previous bombings the attackers left behind leaflets protesting the International Monetary Fund and Free Trade of the Americas Accord.
