In Brief: Aetna's 2 High-Deductible Plans for HSAs

Aetna in King of Prussia, Pa., announced on Thursday the introduction of two high-deductible health plans that are compatible with health savings accounts, for individuals and their families in Virginia and Washington, D.C.

The health plans are designed to supply additional, affordable health coverage for people who want to fund health costs within the deductible limits from tax-free money in the new health savings accounts.

Customers have the opportunity to enroll in a flexible health benefits plan tied to an HSA for paying qualified medical expenses. HSA contributions are tax-deductible and earn interest tax-free. HSAs are portable, and unused balances can be carried forward from year to year. Aetna can offer customers a referral option for establishing an HSA account, or they can choose their own HSA provider.
