In Brief: At Genpass, Another Ex-Colleague of CEO

IRVING, Tex. - Bipin C. Shah, the chief executive officer of Genpass Inc., has signed up yet another executive who worked with him in the past.

John M. Gallagher has been hired as the senior vice president of card services in charge of payroll-card sales to large companies and supermarket chains. The announcement was made last week.

Mr. Gallagher was the Verifone Inc. director of product marketing with international responsibility for large retail accounts. He has 30 years of experience in the electronic funds transfer industry, specializing in sales and product development for the supermarket industry.

He worked with Mr. Shah at two companies. At Gensar, Mr. Gallagher was in charge of supermarket sales and product development and was instrumental in developing point of sale processing relationships with supermarkets across the United States. Earlier, at CoreSates Financial Corp., he was in charge of POS product development for the MAC and BuyPass Networks; in the early 1980s he helped CoreSates develop debit card acceptance at supermarkets.

Genpass is one of the largest drivers of automated teller machines and owns two electronic funds transfer networks.
