In Brief: Exec Leaves Radian For Consulting Firm

PHILADELPHIA - Veteran mortgage executive Albert V. Will has left Radian Guaranty, a spokesman for the private mortgage insurer said.

The spokesman said Mr. Will wanted to spend more time with his family and to focus on Looking Glass Partners, an Indianapolis consulting firm he co-founded several years ago.

As executive vice president of sales and operations, Mr. Will, 44, was responsible for Radian's marketing and sales strategies and running its national service network. Radian promoted Bruce Van Fleet to succeed Mr. Will.

Mr. Van Fleet, 49, was previously a senior vice president and national accounts manager. In that job he led the company's national accounts team and managed Radian's relationships with big lenders.

Mr. Will joined one of Radian's predecessor companies, Amerin Guaranty of Chicago, in the summer of 1998. His family remained in Indianapolis, where his previous employer, Banc One Mortgage, was headquartered. Mr. Will had been chief operating officer of the Banc One Corp. unit.

Last year Amerin merged with Commonwealth Mortgage Assurance Co. of Philadelphia to form Radian. The merged company chose Philadelphia for its headquarters, extending Mr. Will's weekly commute.

Mr. Will also worked six years at Prudential Home Mortgage in various senior positions and in the mortgage finance group at Credit Suisse First Boston.

Before joining Radian, Mr. Van Fleet, 49, held senior positions at Strategic Mortgage Services in Costa Mesa, Calif.; Amerifirst Mortgage in Miami; and PMI Group in San Francisco.
