In Brief: Free Access for Ameritrade Customers

OMAHA - The discount online broker Ameritrade has partnered with 1stUp.com Corp., a San Francisco Internet technology and service firm, to provide free Internet services to its one million subscribers.

Ameritrade's customers will get unlimited Internet access from anywhere in the country, voice mail, and 24-hour support services. In return, Ameritrade's ad will appear perpetually on 1stUp's navigation bar. Ameritrade customers can access the service starting today, a spokesman for 1stUp.com said.

Ameritrade, of Omaha, is the first financial services firm to use free Internet access as a branding tool, the spokesman said.
