Genworth Financial said Friday that it has named Kate Carey to lead its government relations office in Washington.

In this newly created role, Ms. Carey is to lead a team that manages the company's relations with federal and state governments, as well as industry trade associations. She will report to Genworth's general counsel, Leon Roday, who is also a senior vice president.
Ms. Carey worked 14 years at MetLife Inc., most recently as vice president and head of federal and international government relations.
