Great-West Healthcare, the employee benefits division of Denver-based Great-West Life and Annuity Insurance Co., said it had introduced two consultative tools for brokers to use in helping employers decide whether consumer-driven health plans are right for their employees.
The offerings include an online questionnaire that helps companies determine their readiness for consumer-driven health plans - a term for the high-deductible insurance that can be paired with health savings accounts - and an interactive CD intended to help employers understand how self-funded health plans work and decide whether the approach makes sense for them, Great-West said Tuesday.
The online tool poses 21 questions in five categories - company readiness, employee readiness, financial considerations, benefits philosophy, and plan design. The results are tabulated and an overall readiness score given. If the score indicates that the company may be ready for a consumer-driven health plan, the tool further recommends which plan type is most appropriate.
The 15-minute interactive CD is divided into five sections, including a breakdown on how self-funding works, the advantages of this approach, common misperceptions, and why companies choose Great-West Healthcare.
