A small New York hedge fund company announced Friday that it has hired a portfolio manager from Goldman Sachs.
Halcyon, a $2.5 billion hedge fund manager, said it hired Steven G. Mandis to be a managing principal, as well as a vice chairman and the chief investment officer for its special credit and select opportunity products. He also is to join Halcyon's risk management and investment committees.
Mr. Mandis was a manager for a multibillion-dollar proprietary credit portfolio in Goldman Sachs' fixed-income division. He had worked at Goldman since 1992.
He is to focus on originating and acquiring a diversified portfolio of both high-yielding debt of middle-market companies and undervalued and orphaned investments in a range of asset categories.
