In Brief: IHS Sells Securities Regulations on CD-ROM

Looking ahead to what many say will soon be the most troublesome compliance area, IHS Regulatory Products, Englewood, Colo., has added a securities product.

The "Securities Regulatory Library" on CD-ROM includes the full text of all rules published in the Federal Register regarding securities.

Pertinent laws, such as the Securities and Exchange Act and the Investment Company Act, also are included on the disk, as are publications from the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.

IHS, which has 2,700 customers for a similar product that covers banking rules, laws, and agency issuances, saw a need in this market.

"Bankers are more interested in securities now, and many feel there is a gap in their information," said Mary Cavarra, general manager for IHS financial products.

IHS does not interpret the publications but allows users to call up data quickly for reference.

The securities library costs $1,795 for an annual subscription, which includes monthly updates and a CD-ROM drive. For an additional $500 each, users can buy disks with the rules and publications of the National Association of Securities Dealers or the New York Stock Exchange.
