In Brief: In Brief: N.Y. Life Hires Two Execs Reporting to CFO

New York Life Insurance Co. announced Monday that it has hired Gregory Deavens to be a senior vice president and Russell Bundschuh to be a first vice president.

Both executives report to Michael Sproule, the company's executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Mr. Deavens is responsible for financial analysis, budget and cost calculations, and rating agency functions, the company said, and Mr. Bundschuh is responsible for mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, and special projects.

Before joining New York Life, Mr. Deavens had worked five years at Cigna Corp., where most recently he led investor relations. Previously he held various posts during seven years at GE Capital Corp., including vice president-treasurer of GE Financial Assurance.

Mr. Bundschuh came to New York Life from 10 years at McKinsey & Co., where he became a partner in 2000. Before McKinsey, he worked five years in the U.S. marketing and sales division at IBM Corp., where he was the lead member for large-systems technical sales on an insurance account team.
