Ivy Asset Management Corp., a Bank of New York unit that offers hedge funds of funds and alternative investments, has announced the hiring of a chief investment officer.

Peter D. Noris is to take the newly created post on Feb. 14. He is to work with the investment team and be a strategic adviser in four areas - research, portfolio management, risk management, and operational due diligence, the company said on Monday.
Mr. Noris was the chief investment officer at Northstar Financial Services and previously was an executive vice president and chief investment officer at Axa Equitable, a unit of Axa Group Inc. in New York.
Ivy, which is based in New York, had $15 billion of assets under management at Dec. 31.
