In Brief: Janus Hires Starr to Fill CFO Vacancy

DENVER — Janus Capital Corp. has hired Loren Starr from Putnam Investments to be its chief financial officer.

Mr. Starr, who is to start his new job Sept. 28, would fill a slot left open since the departure of Steven Goodman in last September, said a Janus spokeswoman.

At Janus, Mr. Starr is to report to Mark Whiston, president of retail and institutional services.

Since Mr. Goodman’s resignation, three Janus executives have handled the chief financial officer’s role, the spokeswoman said.

At Putnam, Mr. Starr was the managing director and head of corporate finance. His last day there was Aug. 22, a spokeswoman said.

Mr. Starr’s hiring was first reported by Reuters.
