ATLANTA Equifax Inc. has given the name Certegy to its credit card and check processing division, which is scheduled to be spun off as a separate company early next month.
In October, Equifax announced that it would spin off the division in order to attract more processing clients.
Carol Hassell, a spokeswoman for Equifax, said the divisions 5,500 employees will move to the new company when it is spun off.
Equifax hired Landor Associates, a branding consultancy headquartered in San Francisco, to select the divisions name and logo. Certegy was chosen from more than 4,000 potential names, the company said.
Certegys headquarters will remain in Atlanta.
