Joseph Gilmour, the executive vice president and the chief financial officer of New York Life International, will succeed Gary Benanav as its chief executive officer March 1.
Mr. Gilmour will also become the New York Life Insurance Co. unit's president at that time.
Mr. Benanav will remain its chairman until March 1, 2006.
Mr. Gilmour's promotion was announced Thursday. He joined New York Life in August 2003 as the executive vice president and the chief financial officer. He previously worked at Canada Life, where he oversaw the management and development of its international holdings and reinsurance operations.
Mr. Benanav has been the chairman and CEO of New York Life International since joining the company in 1997. He is also the vice chairman of New York Life Insurance.
