PacifiCare Behavioral Health Inc., a Santa Ana, Calif., unit of PacifiCare Health Systems Inc., said Tuesday that it had introduced a mental health care program that includes online and phone-based services.
The services include coaching and counseling by telephone and self-care programs on the Web, the company said. The program also offers learning formats like audio and workbooks.
PacifiCare Health Systems, a Cypress, Calif., provider of commercial health and Medicare plans, completed its $8.1 billion merger with UnitedHealth Group of Minnetonka, Minn., last week, the company has announced separately. The deal brought UnitedHealth's plan membership to more than 26 million, comparable in size to WellPoint Inc. in Indianapolis, which is the nation's largest insurer, at more than 28 million members.
