J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (which bought Bank One Corp. in April) said late last month that it would merge its mutual funds group with Bank One's by February and move it to New York.

Mr. Jandrain announced his departure Friday. A spokeswoman for Bank One's fund group said his decision to leave was prompted by the move to New York.

Bank One's small-cap value and quantitative teams will remain in Columbus, Ohio.

Mr. Jandrain had been a portfolio manager of the One Group's mid-cap growth fund and the chief investment strategist of Banc One Investment Advisors since March 2003.

He was the chief investment officer at Bank One's investment advisory unit from 1992 until March 2003, when Lawrence Baumgartner was named to the position.
