Jackson W. Moore, the president and chief executive-designate at Regions Financial Corp., of Birmingham, Ala., is undergoing therapy near Memphis after being hospitalized for a ruptured blood vessel near his brain.
Mr. Moore, 56, fell ill Feb. 20 while attending the finals of the Regions/Morgan Keegan Championships, a professional tennis tournament in Memphis. He was admitted to a Memphis hospital after noticing weakness on his left side.
He was released from the hospital Feb. 28 and moved to Baptist Rehabilitation Center in Germantown, Tenn., near Memphis.
"While normal rehabilitation could take several weeks, Mr. Moore is progressing on schedule," Regions spokeswoman Kristi Lamont Ellis said Wednesday.
"The focus … is the full restoration of the motor skills of his left arm and left leg. Between therapy sessions he continues to stay in touch with the corporate office and his key reports, working daily."
Though no date has been set for Mr. Moore's return to the office, Ms. Ellis said the illness would not affect plans for him to become CEO on July 1, after the retirement of the current CEO, Carl E. Jones Jr.
