DETROIT — Comerica Inc. has announced that it will use software from Austin, Tex.-based Vignette Corp. to personalize customer information on its Web site.

The software, which will run on Comerica’s redesigned site, will increase the level of directed information that retail customers receive and will provide special advice to customers facing major life events, such as homebuying or retirement.

It also contains relationship-management features aimed at Comerica’s small-business and corporate banking customers.

Comerica chose Vignette “for its ability to meet all our needs in a single solution, not making us dependent on a collection of partnerships,” said Richard G. Lyons, Jr., a senior vice president and head of Internet and payment systems strategies at Comerica.
