Intuit Adds iPad Banking App

Intuit Inc. has added a new tablet banking product for banks and credit unions.

The software, available for the iPad, permits common online and mobile banking functions such as viewing transactions, paying bills and locating ATMs and branches.

People who use the online and mobile channels are 45% more likely to interact with their financial institution than those who just use online banking, Intuit says, citing a recent study it conducted with 50,000 mobile banking users.

"The iPad app takes advantage of a larger screen size rather than functioning as a copy of the iPhone app," says Celeste Kier, vice president and marketing director with ESL Federal Credit Union, a Rochester, N.Y.-based Intuit client, in a press release.

"Customers immediately accepted it when we offered it in December and we continue to receive positive feedback from our members," Kier says.

Intuit also offers an iPad app for users of its Mint.com personal financial management website.
