Longtime Visa Exec Elizabeth Buse Joins Monitise Group as Co-CEO

Elizabeth Buse, a former Visa executive who left the card network this year after a 16-year career with the company, has been named co-CEO of Monitise Group.

Buse, who also joins Monitise's board of directors, will work alongside Alastair Lukies, CEO of Monitise plc, the London-based company announced June 4. Buse was previously a member of the Monitise board from July 2010 to October 2012.

Buse was most recently the executive vice president of Visa's global solutions group, a role she took in August 2013. It was the third executive job at Visa for Buse, who has been recognized as one of PaymentsSource's Most Influential Women in Payments and American Banker Magazine's Most Powerful Women in Finance.

She will head Monitise's day-to-day operations and Lukies will focus on relationships with partners, industry stakeholders and shareholders. Lee Cameron remains Monitise Group's chief commercial officer and deputy CEO.

"Monitise occupies a unique position in the global Mobile Money ecosystem as one of the few technology enablers with proven bank-grade solutions across banking, payments and commerce," Buse says in a press release. "I am enormously impressed by the Group's quality of products and services, the technology and, most of all, the people. I cannot see a better-placed business to take advantage of the Mobile Money opportunity and am delighted to be joining Monitise."

Monitise also appointed two non-executive directors to its board, Amanda Burton and Paulette Garafalo.

Monitise is granting Buse five million options over ordinary shares of 1p each in the company. The options have a 1p exercise price and vest at the end of three years if the average share price is at least 68 pence over the three-month period prior to vesting.
