M&A Head Resigns at Republic of Kentucky

Less than three months after joining Republic Bancorp Inc. as head of the Louisville company's acquisitions and corporate strategy, former National City Corp. executive Ted Parker has resigned to "pursue other opportunities."

The $3 billion-asset Republic announced the resignation in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Friday. Republic created the position for Mr. Parker, who had headed a number of business lines at National City.

In an interview Tuesday, its president and chief executive Steve Trager said Mr. Parker's resignation would not affect Republic's acquisition strategy. He reiterated that the company, which has made only one bank acquisition this decade, is eyeing deals in its existing markets of Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, and Florida.

"We think there are going to be some great acquisition opportunities in the next six to 12 months," he said.

Mr. Trager said the company has no immediate plans to replace Mr. Parker.
