MassMutual Selects Tech Chief

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. announced Monday that it will promote Robert J. Casale, a senior vice president and its deputy chief information officer, to chief information officer Jan. 1.

Mr. Casale has worked for 13 years at the Springfield company, which uses the marketing name MassMutual Financial Group. He has been its deputy chief information officer since January and a senior vice president since June.

Before joining MassMutual, he had been a senior programming analyst for the Connecticut Online Computer Center Trust.

He will succeed the retiring Michael Foley and will report to Roger W. Crandall, MassMutual's president and chief operating officer.

As the chief information officer, Mr. Casale will oversee MassMutual's enterprise technology organization, which handles companywide data, information security, and the overall governance of the information technology development process.

Mr. Foley has been the chief information officer since 2005. Before that he had held the same position at Babson Capital Management LLC, a MassMutual unit he joined in 1994.

MassMutual had $500 billion of assets under management as of Dec. 31.
