MasterCard Names New Payments Exec

MasterCard Inc. on Monday named Ed McLaughlin its chief emerging payments officer, succeeding Josh Peirez.

MasterCard said that Peirez has accepted a job at another company, which it did not name. McLaughlin has already taken on his new duties; Peirez is still at MasterCard and is assisting in the transition.

McLaughlin now oversees development of a variety of new payments technologies, including mobile, person-to-person transfers, contactless and bill payment.

He was previously group executive for franchise development. He joined MasterCard in 2005 from Metavante Technologies Inc., which was purchased last year by Fidelity National Information Services Inc.

MasterCard also said Monday that it had promoted Eileen Simon to franchise development officer, from a group executive and senior associate general counsel.
