ModaSolutions Corp. has adapted its eBillme online payment system to work with the Magento Inc. e-commerce platform.
Moda's eBillme allows consumers to make payments to online retailers through a bank's online bill-pay system. Merchants send consumers an invoice with the details to type into their bank's site, and the products are then shipped after the payment is made.
The new Magento module allows the Rye Brook, N.Y., payment company's system to work with any of the over 80,000 merchants that use Magento's system.
The first client using eBillme on Magento is Tool King LLC, an online hardware retailer.
Tool King began using eBillme in January 2006 and was one of Moda's first clients. The retailer's switch to Magento, of Culver City, Calif., last year necessitated an updated version of eBillme so that Tool King could continue accepting eBillme payments. Tool King was unable to accept eBillme payments for about three to four months while the payment provider adapted, Moda said.
Tool King's move to Magento, and Moda's consequent adaptation of its product, created "an opportunity for us to further extend our payment option into more leading retail brands," Marwan Forzley, Moda's chief executive, said in a press release Monday.
Ben Skigen, Tool King's e-commerce director, said in the release that the Magento eBillme module "has made integration fast and seamless. It couldn't have been easier to get eBillme up and running on our site to start seeing immediate results."
The module normally costs $250 as a setup fee, but Moda said it would offer it for free for a short time.
