Morgan Stanley announced Tuesday that its alternative investment unit had hired a Goldman Sachs executive, Joseph Stecher, to be the chief investment officer for funds comprising real estate assets.
Mr. Stecher joined the Morgan Stanley Alternative Investment Partners unit after managing, for the past year, real estate funds of funds and separate accounts for institutions and high-net-worth individuals at Goldman.
Previously, he worked at General Motors Asset Management for 16 years, where he managed $1.5 billion of private-equity real estate, invested $5 billion in real estate, and managed more than 33 million square feet of space.
