Morgan Stanley Unit Taps a Fidelity Vet

Morgan Stanley on Monday named a former top executive of Fidelity Investments to run its global wealth management group.

Ellyn A. McColgan, who resigned unexpectedly from the Boston fund company in August after long being considered a possible successor to Fidelity's top executive, Edward C. Johnson 3rd, will assume office in April as president and chief operating officer of Morgan Stanley's global wealth management group. She is to be a member of Morgan Stanley's management committee and will report to corporate co-president James P. Gorman, whom she succeeds in her new role. Ms. McColgan, 53, worked 17 years at Fidelity, most recently as president of distribution and operations. Previously, she was president of Fidelity Brokerage Co.
